Ed Grizzle had many problems as a child. His home life was bad and he got to the point where he didn’t care if he lived or died. His parents didn’t care for him and that hurt him enough that he did everything he could to hurt them. He did not feel like he was part of his family.
As time went by, life got better. A few people who really cared for Ed helped him through some of his problems. And he began to see that life could be better if people would just share love for one another.
His life really changed when he met and married Mary. She lead him to Jesus and helped him feel better about himself. She encouraged Ed to get a good job and make something of himself. And it worked. On Easter Sunday of 1974, Ed Grizzle accepted Jesus as his Lord and Savior and Mary reaffirmed her commitment to Jesus.
Life soon began to be worth living. Mary encouraged Ed to write his book, “It’s Your Decision – Parenting the Way God Intended”, and perhaps others in the future, to try to encourage those who were having difficulties in their lives. If it wasn’t for God and Mary, Ed says he would not be here today. Together, they raised a daughter and a son who are now doing a great job of taking care of their families the way they were taken care of at home by their parents.
Ed Grizzle grew up in Bloomington, IL, where he still resides today.
It’s Your Decision: Raising Children the Way God Intended by Ed Grizzle
Publication date: June 24, 2011
Author Ed Grizzle hasn’t always had it easy. He did not start out life on an easy road. With parents who showed him no love, he quickly found himself on the self-professed highway to Hell.
Ed’s passion for helping parents to raise their children shines through in his book, It’s Your Decision – Parenting the Way God Intended. With roots in the Bible, experiences from his childhood, and subsequently bringing up his own children, provide the basis for the advice given in the book.
Using his life’s experiences as a guide, Grizzle explores the importance of making the right decisions in life—from choosing the right lifestyle and the right mate and to raising children according to what God has planned for you.
In the past few years Ed has ridden with the police to get first-hand experience with the problems our families are facing today. He has worked with prostitutes, drug addicts, gang members and many others who find themselves on the wrong side of the law. He started the “It’s Your Decision” ministry with a vision of helping those who were facing struggles in their lives, and for four years Ed ministered to, and counseled inmates in the local county jail.
The stories in this book are hard ones to tell, and hard to read about, but they show that a little love, respect, and bible study can go a long way towards helping someone turn their life around. And they come from real-life – they are not made up in someone’s head.
